Ruellia subringens merupakan tumbuhan dari famili Acanthaceae (suku jeruju-jerujuan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis basah di wilayah Brazil timur laut. Nama ilmiah Ruellia subringens diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Christian Gottfried Daniel Nees von Esenbeck pada tahun 1900.
