Ruellia tubiflora merupakan tumbuhan perdu kecil dari famili Acanthaceae (suku jeruju-jerujuan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis basah dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Meksiko tenggara hingga Venezuela (Carabobo) dan Ekuador. Nama ilmiah Ruellia tubiflora diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Carl Sigismund Kunth pada tahun 1818.
