Rumex japonicus merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Polygonaceae. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Rusia Timur Jauh hingga Vietnam dan wilayah Asia Timur yang beriklim sedang. Nama ilmiah Rumex japonicus pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Maarten Houttuyn pada tahun 1777.
