Sanchezia ovata merupakan tumbuhan dari famili Acanthaceae (suku jeruju-jerujuan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis basah dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Peru hingga Bolivia dan Brazil (Acre). Nama ilmiah Sanchezia ovata pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Hipólito Ruiz López pada tahun 1798.
