Sarga timorensis merupakan tumbuhan semusim dari famili Poaceae (suku rumput-rumputan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Kepulauan Nusa Tenggara hingga Australia utara dan Tengah. Nama ilmiah Sarga timorensis pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Carl Sigismund Kunth pada tahun 2003.
