Schoenoplectus acutus merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Cyperaceae (suku teki-tekian). Spesies ini memiliki kebiasaan membentuk rimpang atau stolon. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan hardstem bulrush. Nama ilmiah Schoenoplectus acutus pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Gotthilf Heinrich Ernst Muhlenberg pada tahun 1954.
