Schoenoplectus scirpoides merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Cyperaceae (suku teki-tekian). Spesies ini memiliki kebiasaan membentuk rimpang atau stolon. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Ethiopia hingga Afrika Selatan. Nama ilmiah Schoenoplectus scirpoides diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Heinrich Adolph Schrader pada tahun 1994.
