Scutellaria ovata subsp. mexicana merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Lamiaceae (suku nilam-nilaman). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim subtropis dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Louisiana hingga Meksiko timur laut. Nama ilmiah Scutellaria ovata subsp. mexicana pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Carl Clawson Epling pada tahun 1942.
