Labu siam adalah salah satu spesies tumbuhan dari famili Cucurbitaceae (suku labu-labuan) yang memiliki pola tumbuh memanjat. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis basah. Nama ilmiah Sechium edule pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Nikolaus Joseph von Jacquin pada tahun 1800.
