Selaginella protensa merupakan tumbuhan perdu kecil dari famili Selaginellaceae. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis basah di kawasan tropis Afrika bagian barat. Nama ilmiah Selaginella protensa pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Arthur Hugh Garfit Alston pada tahun 1957.
