Senna polyphylla adalah salah satu spesies tumbuhan berbentuk perdu atau pohon dari famili Fabaceae (suku polong-polongan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis basah dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Meksiko, Honduras, Karibia, Venezuela, hingga Brazil timur. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan retama prieta. Nama ilmiah Senna polyphylla pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Nikolaus Joseph von Jacquin pada tahun 1982.
