Sesbania javanica merupakan tumbuhan bebentuk perdu kecil dari famili Fabaceae (suku polong-polongan) yang siklus hidupnya hanya semusim. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis basah di kawasan tropis Asia. Nama ilmiah Sesbania javanica diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Friedrich Anton Wilhelm Miquel pada tahun 1855.
