Setaria distans merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Poaceae (suku rumput-rumputan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Ogasawara-shoto hingga Australia utara dan timur. Nama ilmiah Setaria distans diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Carl Bernhard von Trinius pada tahun 1994.
