Setaria grandis merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Poaceae (suku rumput-rumputan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering di wilayah Malawi. Nama ilmiah Setaria grandis diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Otto Stapf pada tahun 1930.
