Setaria orthosticha adalah salah satu spesies tumbuhan semusim dari famili Poaceae (suku rumput-rumputan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Ethiopia hingga kawasan tropis Afrika bagian selatan. Nama ilmiah Setaria orthosticha diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Karl Moritz Schumann pada tahun 1910.
