Silene aethiopica merupakan tumbuhan semusim dari famili Caryophyllaceae. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim subtropis di wilayah Provinsi Cape. Nama ilmiah Silene aethiopica diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Nicolaas Laurens Burman pada tahun 1768.
