Silene salamandra merupakan tumbuhan semusim dari famili Caryophyllaceae. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim subtropis di wilayah Kepulauan Aegea timur (Rodos). Nama ilmiah Silene salamandra diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Renato Pampanini pada tahun 1927.
