Solanum polyacanthos merupakan tumbuhan berbentuk perdu dari famili Solanaceae (suku terong-terongan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Kuba hingga Hispaniola. Nama ilmiah Solanum polyacanthos pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Jean-Baptiste Lamarck pada tahun 1794.
