Solanum scabrum merupakan tumbuhan dari famili Solanaceae (suku terong-terongan). Nama ilmiah Solanum scabrum pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Hipólito Ruiz López pada tahun 1799. Nama spesies ini merupakan sinonim dari Solanum saponaceum.
