Sonchus afromontanus adalah salah satu spesies tumbuhan dari famili Asteraceae (suku aster-asteran). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari kawasan tropis Afrika bagian timur dan timur-tengah. Nama ilmiah Sonchus afromontanus diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Robert Elias Fries pada tahun 1925.
