Sonchus asper subsp. glaucescens merupakan tumbuhan dari famili Asteraceae (suku aster-asteran) yang memiliki siklus hidup dua musim (biennial). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim subtropis dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Eropa hingga Mediterania dan Himalaya, Sri Lanka, Papua. Nama ilmiah Sonchus asper subsp. glaucescens diperkenalkan oleh Claude Thomas Alexis Jordan pada tahun 1878.
