Sonchus mauritanicus merupakan tumbuhan dari famili Asteraceae (suku aster-asteran). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari Afrika barat laut. Nama ilmiah Sonchus mauritanicus diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Pierre Edmond Boissier pada tahun 1852.
