Sonchus nanus merupakan tumbuhan dari famili Asteraceae (suku aster-asteran). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari Afrika Selatan. Nama ilmiah Sonchus nanus diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Otto Wilhelm Sonder pada tahun 1865.
