Sonchus schweinfurthii merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Asteraceae (suku aster-asteran). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering di kawasan tropis Afrika. Nama ilmiah Sonchus schweinfurthii diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Daniel Oliver pada tahun 1877.
