Soulamea amara merupakan tumbuhan berbentuk perdu atau pohon dari famili Simaroubaceae. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis basah dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Kalimantan hingga Pasifik barat. Nama ilmiah Soulamea amara diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Jean-Baptiste Lamarck pada tahun 1785.
