Spermolepis echinata merupakan tumbuhan semusim dari famili Apiaceae (suku adas-adasan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Amerika Serikat tengah dan selatan hingga Meksiko utara. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan bristly scaleseed. Nama ilmiah Spermolepis echinata diperkenalkan oleh Thomas Nuttall pada tahun 1895.
