Spilanthes urens merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Asteraceae (suku aster-asteran) yang tumbuh dalam bentuk perdu kecil atau semak. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Meksiko barat hingga kawasan tropis Amerika. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan pigeoncoop. Nama ilmiah Spilanthes urens pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Nikolaus Joseph von Jacquin pada tahun 1760.
