Stachys affinis merupakan tumbuhan dari famili Lamiaceae (suku nilam-nilaman). Spesies ini memiliki kebiasaan membentuk bonggol berbentuk umbi. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari China hingga Myanmar utara. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan artichoke betony. Nama ilmiah Stachys affinis diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Alexander Andrejewitsch von Bunge pada tahun 1833.
