Stachys chinensis merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Lamiaceae (suku nilam-nilaman). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Primorye hingga China. Nama ilmiah Stachys chinensis diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Alexander Andrejewitsch von Bunge pada tahun 1834.
