Steinchisma decipiens merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Poaceae (suku rumput-rumputan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Kolombia, Venezuela, Brazil, hingga Argentina bagian utara. Nama ilmiah Steinchisma decipiens pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Christian Gottfried Daniel Nees von Esenbeck pada tahun 1977.
