Sterculia setigera merupakan tumbuhan berbentuk pohon dari famili Malvaceae (suku kapas-kapasan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering di kawasan tropis Afrika. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan sterculia. Nama ilmiah Sterculia setigera pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Alire Raffeneau Delile pada tahun 1826.
