Stevia gratioloides merupakan tumbuhan dari famili Asteraceae (suku aster-asteran). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari wilayah sepanjang Brazil (Rio Grande do Sul) hingga Uruguay. Nama ilmiah Stevia gratioloides pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis William Jackson Hooker pada tahun 1836.
