Stevia sarensis merupakan tumbuhan dari famili Asteraceae (suku aster-asteran). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari Bolivia (Santa Cruz). Nama ilmiah Stevia sarensis diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Benjamin Lincoln Robinson pada tahun 1932.
