Streptanthus maculatus merupakan tumbuhan semusim dari famili Brassicaceae (suku sawi-sawian). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Oklahoma hingga Arkansas dan Texas. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan clasping jewelflower. Nama ilmiah Streptanthus maculatus pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Thomas Nuttall pada tahun 1825.
