Striga hermonthica merupakan tumbuhan hemiparasit berumur semusim dari famili Orobanchaceae. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering di wilayah Afrika. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan purple witchweed. Nama ilmiah Striga hermonthica pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Alire Raffeneau Delile pada tahun 1836.
