Syncalathium porphyreum merupakan tumbuhan dari famili Asteraceae (suku aster-asteran). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Tibet hingga Qinghai. Nama ilmiah Syncalathium porphyreum diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Cecil Victor Boley Marquand pada tahun 1965.
