Tephrosia hispidula merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Fabaceae (suku polong-polongan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang di wilayah Amerika Serikat bagian tenggara. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan sprawling hoarypea. Nama ilmiah Tephrosia hispidula pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis André Michaux pada tahun 1807.
