Tephrosia tinctoria adalah salah satu spesies tumbuhan perdu kecil dari famili Fabaceae (suku polong-polongan) yang hidup menahun. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering di wilayah India, Sri Lanka. Nama ilmiah Tephrosia tinctoria pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Christiaan Hendrik Persoon pada tahun 1807.
