Thelocactus macdowellii merupakan tumbuhan dari famili Cactaceae (suku kaktus-kaktusan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma gurun pasir atau sabana kering di wilayah Meksiko (Coahuila, Nuevo León). Nama ilmiah Thelocactus macdowellii pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Pierre Rebut pada tahun 1947.
