Thelypteris austera merupakan tumbuhan dari famili Aspleniaceae. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis basah di wilayah Papua New Guinea. Nama ilmiah Thelypteris austera diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Guido Georg Wilhelm Brause pada tahun 1968.
