Themeda novoguineensis merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Poaceae (suku rumput-rumputan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering di wilayah Papua New Guinea. Nama ilmiah Themeda novoguineensis pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis John Raymond Reeder pada tahun 1952.
