Thouinia punctata merupakan tumbuhan dari famili Sapindaceae (suku lerak-lerakan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis basah di wilayah Kuba timur. Nama ilmiah Thouinia punctata diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Ludwig Adolph Timotheus Radlkofer pada tahun 1878.
