Thyrocarpus sampsonii merupakan tumbuhan semusim dari famili Boraginaceae. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari China tengah dan selatan, Vietnam, hingga Taiwan. Nama ilmiah Thyrocarpus sampsonii diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Henry Fletcher Hance pada tahun 1862.
