Ticanto nuga merupakan tumbuhan dari famili Fabaceae (suku polong-polongan). Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan gray nicker. Nama ilmiah Ticanto nuga pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Friedrich Kasimir Medikus pada tahun 1786.
