Trapa natans merupakan tumbuhan tumbuhan air (hidrofit) dari famili Lythraceae yang hidup semusim. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang di wilayah Eurasia, Afrika barat laut. Nama ilmiah Trapa natans diperkenalkan oleh Carolus Linnaeus pada tahun 1753.
