Trapa natans var. africana adalah salah satu spesies tumbuhan air (hidrofit) dari famili Lythraceae yang hidup semusim. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering di kawasan tropis Afrika bagian timur (Lake Victoria). Nama ilmiah Trapa natans var. africana pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis John Patrick Micklethwait Brenan pada tahun 1953.
