Trapa natans var. africana adalah salah satu spesies tumbuhan tumbuhan air (hidrofit) dari famili Lythraceae yang hidup semusim. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering di wilayah kawasan tropis Afrika bagian timur (Lake Victoria). Nama ilmiah Trapa natans var. africana diperkenalkan oleh John Patrick Micklethwait Brenan pada tahun 1953.
