Krokot laut daun bul merupakan tumbuhan semusim atau dwimusim dari famili Aizoaceae. Tumbuhan yang dikenal dengan nama ilmiah Trianthema portulacastrum ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering di kawasan tropis dan subtropis. Nama ilmiah Trianthema portulacastrum pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Carolus Linnaeus dalam Species Plantarum tahun 1753.
