Trichodesma calcaratum merupakan tumbuhan semusim atau menahun dari famili Boraginaceae. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma gurun pasir atau sabana kering dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Afrika barat laut hingga Mauritania. Nama ilmiah Trichodesma calcaratum diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Ernest Saint-Charles Cosson pada tahun 1910.
