Trichosanthes cucumerina L.

Trichosanthes cucumerina merupakan tumbuhan semusim dari famili Cucurbitaceae (suku labu-labuan). Spesies ini memiliki kebiasaan tumbuh memanjat. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari kawasan Asia tropis dan subtropis hingga Australia utara. Di Indonesia tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan nama paria belut, petola ular (Maluku), atau pare welut (Jawa). Nama ilmiah Trichosanthes cucumerina diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Carolus Linnaeus pada tahun 1753.
