Trichosanthes dioica merupakan tumbuhan dari famili Cucurbitaceae (suku labu-labuan) yang memiliki pola tumbuh memanjat. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari anak benua India hingga Myanmar. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan pointed gourd. Nama ilmiah Trichosanthes dioica diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama William Roxburgh pada tahun 1832.
